Psychotherapist and Holistic Practitioner
The focus of my work is assisting others to find relief from pain, to discover their true Self, and improve the quality of their lives. This is one path to healthy and authentic living.
As a psychotherapist, I meet with individuals or couples in a traditional counseling setting where I draw upon my education and training in counseling psychology to facilitate positive change. My credentials include an AA in Correctional Rehabilitation from the Harrisburg Area Community College in Pennsylvania, a BA in Social Welfare from the Pennsylvania State University, and a MA in Counseling Psychology from Antioch College in Keene, New Hampshire (with additional course work at Saint Michael's College and Johnson State College, both in Vermont).
Through my personal and professional experience, I have come to understand the connection between our psychological/emotional health and our physical well-being. Often a person's physical condition is an expression of an internal imbalance. I work closely with individuals to help identify, express, and correct negative thoughts, feelings and beliefs that have shaped their life. Once the individual becomes conscious of these internal messages, their healing begins.
As a holistic practitioner, I am trained and certified in several mind-body-spirit healing modalities. These methods work with the energy flow of the cranio-sacral system and balance the chakras. Since 1983, I studied the Usui Method of Reiki Energy Balancing. I have used this gentle, hands-on approach and have seen amazing results over the years. In 2007, I began an apprenticeship in the application of Myofascial Release to body-work. It is especially effective in the treatment of conditions related to trauma.
I live and work in Montpelier, VT. When I am not working I can be found reading any number of books, cuddling my cat, or taking time to smell the flowers in my garden.
